Rog, don't thin the epoxy, that weakens it and it cures porous. Instead, mix it and then warm up the wood with a hair drier (hopefully you've got one of them ). Pour in the epoxy and use a disposable brush to spread it around. If necessary, give the epoxy another blast with the hot air. The warm wood will soak up the epoxy.
