RE: recommend a speed controller
Yes, you need to get a speed controller for the motor you want to use. Brushless motors work by the esc changing the polarity in the motor. Brushed motors work because the motor itself changes the polarity, not the esc. If you are wanting a brushless motor, I really like the AXI series with a Jeti speed controller. I'm not very good at chosing a motor for a specific plane, so someone else will have to help you with that.
But, if your plane came with a motor and you don't know what type it is, look at the amount of wires coming from the motor. If it has two, then it is brushed. If it has three, then it is a brushless.
EDIT: I just found your plane and it has a brushless motor. The Jeti Advance 18 plus would work. I use that one and love it. Someone else may ahve a better suggestion though.
