Default RE: GP CAP232 Build

That’s right… I finally brought the CAP to the field! The plane was pretty much completed back in January. But I never got around to putting in all the radio gear because of another build, flying and just plain being busy. Well I finish off the plane this week. It was raining out most of the week but last night the clouds broke and there wasn’t a breath of air. The plane flew great… Better then I expected. All she needed was a few clicks of trim. The roll rate is fast, loops tracked great and the little YS had plenty of vert power.

What surprised me was the way it floated in for landings. No sign of stalling at all. I read a few posts that said this plane tip stalls and falls out of the sky on landings. I tried to stall her at high altitude. You have to be going so slow… almost stopped before the wing will stall.

I had to fly her with out the cowl do to my remote glow plug kept messing up. I also took the wheel pants off, they look good but they don’t help on grass… especially wet grass. The plane came out heavier then I thought. The specs say it should be 4.75-5.25 lbs it came out to 6.75 lbs. The plane is tail heavy, I had to put 6 oz of lead in front to balance the plane. I plan on taking off 3 oz of it because the plane seemed good with out the cowl, which weighs 4.5 oz. I also may move the rudder toward the front.

All in all I am very happy. The plane flew great! I can’t wait to get back out there and really start putting her threw her paces. Whooohooo!
