Default RE: Anyone flying with E85?

E-85 will work fine with a spark plug, though you will need to richen the carb up. Most carbs can richen enough with the needles, and/or a small adjustment to the regulator for a little more pressure/flow. It will not work with a glow plug however. The catalytic reaction with the glow plug requires methanol. E-85 is ethanol, not methanol. It doesn't even work well with full time glow heat. (Go ahead, ask me how I know....)

The reason ethanol will work with most gasoline carbs, is that it takes less ethanol to run an engine than methanol. When running straight methanol, you often need to modify the carb, or buy one that flows enough fuel stock.
