RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Hello all, I have been gone for three days on a canoe trip with my son and our Boy Scout Troop 84. (I am the Assistant Scoutmaster) We had a real blast and everyone came home in one piece! The faces were a bit redder than before but the smiles said it all. They all know that I am a RC'er and I am getting some pretty healthy evidence that a few of our boys are wanting to experience the world of RC flight! I may have to build my vintage Windrifter or the Sig Riser and let them ease into flying. I would do it with my electric stuff but it is a bit more touchy to fly than these lovely gliders. I'd love to see even one of these kids enter into this hobby.
I have some updates for the UCD forum.
First off, my hat's off to you Gary! I'm sure you're thrilled with the Grandson! I would about pop if I was in your shoes. My son is almost 12, (I'm almost 47) and the thought of him bringing me a grandchild is almost too far away to comprehend, so I really can't imagine what it must feel like! Great news though, I know you've been looking forward to this for some time.
OK, here's the "deal" on the Saito FA-82A, as I said Chief wants $239 and $7.95 S/H. Hobby Warehouse in Richmond Minn. has it for $229 and $7 S/H. That's a win/win in my book! Thanks Barry for the scoop on Chief as they look like a great outfit, but they are still just over $10 more all together. If the seller handled the warranty work then I would most likely go with Chief, however since it is handled by Saito, I will go for the savings. (that plus I always try to give my money to the smaller "mom and pop" businesses before the bigger boys) Thanks Rob, (rtn9105), for telling me about your LHS, Hobby Warehouse, they didn't answer my e-mail but when I called, they were as helpful as they could be. Either way, it beats the heck out of the $254.99 Horizon wants!
Also, to THE_KNACK, (is this in honor of the band?) glad you got the word on the U-Can-Do deal at Wholesaletrains.com. I tried to look back to see who it was that turned me on to them and was unable to find it. Someone here on this forum told me, so, I am glad that my passing that along has helped to create two new UCD owners (and hopefully, two new RCUniverse, UCD.46 forum residents! The more the merrier! Welcome to the world of U-Can-Do!
That should do for now, I am back to the scouting thing as we have a patrol meeting in 1/2 an hour and my boy is lined up for his Court of Honor to recieve his first rank completion since starting with the Boy Scouts (he got his Arrow of Light from completing every level in Cub Scouts in March)!! I'm off to do my duty.
Bye for now,
Rob AKA Blisster
