RE: Gp Giles 202 1/4 Scale, Upthrust Problem!!!!
I figuredd that out the hard way. First flight I tried to land and it was about 4 ft off the ground and tip stall and cartwheel. I already reapired it. I balaced the plane again and it was a little tail heavy so I moved the battery and it now is slightly tail heavy. I had a neg 5 deg of down thrust on the motor and changed it to +3/4 deg. and the tail and wing are with in 1/2 deg I thought it would be close enough to try and see how it flies. I also have a 1/4 scale extra 300xs that I am recovering...hope it has better flight charateristics. I plan on using a evolution 35gt and a 20-8 carbon prop should be a good combo but I dont think it will have unlimited vertical by any means. I am trying to figure out how a person can correct or offset the elevator incidence without cutting and reglueing the whole tail. I thought that I might be able to change the wing but I was not for sure. I have flown a ton of 40-60 size planes and ran across these two and thought they would be a good starting point for the 1/4 scale planes. Eventually I want to build one that I can try to hover or 3D. Been practicing like mad on a simulator and have it down but the planes on there are perfect balance and so fourth. I think it would be hard to duplicate the performance and settings and setup of the plane with out a lot of help
