P-47D-22 “PENGIE-III”, HV-M 42-25836, Cpt Bolesław “MIKE” Gładych, 61st FS, 56 FG, 8 AF, BOXTED, July 1944
Pengie III was a Razorback P-47D, in natural metal finish, red cowl and rudder, which sported invasion stripes on the lower surfaces of wings and fuselage ( indicating that the scheme was either photographed or recorded a few weeks after
D-Day) and had the codes and serial number in black. The s/n was probably 42-25836. It also carried the name "Rita" in small white letters under the cowl. The Penguin and Pengie III name was similar to Pengie II. The HVM code may have been carried in black, in stenciled format, under the port wing outboard of the invasion stripes.
