Default RE: E-FLIGHT BLADE CP

The gyro (as far as this ole man can explain) in the blade is a piezo gyro. Basically all it does is try to maintain a relationship between the main rotors and tail so that when the rotors are at a certain rpm the tail automatically compensates. It does not lock in on a bearing (compass point, not steel bearing) the way a heading hold gyro does. Hence the name heading hold. So if the blade gets hit by a gust of wind, or even excessive rotor wash, it will just turn with the wind. That's why you are constantly controlling the tail, which in itself is good training. An HH gyro does it's best to lock on a heading and if a gust of wind hits it, it will try to compensate and return to that bearing on it's own. An HH gyro reacts to stick input.
