So from what I am reading here, you need a temp gauge to tell you the reason for you engine overheating is lack of airflow?
I don't think anyone said that, I believe it was said that if there are problems with the engine a temp gauge could be useful in determining whether the engine is overheating, not the source of the overheating. It's just another tool, if you don't want to use it, then by all means don't, but don't insult the people who like having all resources available.
