Replace the glow plug.

Check your high speed needle to make sure that its not running lean. It should be set about 300 rpm below max rpm to the rich side. It sounds like your high speed may be lean causing the engine to heat up and lose compression. It will run at high speed, but when you reduce the throttle, the compression is too low to maintain the engine running.
