The wood screws are a good idea. They are a kind of fuse. If the force on the nosewheel is too great, there is a chance the wood screws will pull out before the supporting structure fails. If the screws pull out, they can easily be replaced with the next size up. (Unless you glue the nose piece on.
) Using blind nuts there means that the structure becomes the weakest link in the chain and if it fails, you are in for a much larger repair job.
