Default RE: Maintenance on T-Maxx 2.5?

Maintenance isn't too bad. Usually after a session, I use compressed air to blow the dust/loose dirt off. If it gets REALLY dirty, it gets a bath with MEAN GREEN ($2 @ Dollar General) and the garden hose on mist setting. (just don't get crazy around the electronics, use compressed air to dry quickly). I make my own after run oil (50% Castrol 10w30/50% ATF), pull the plug and give it about 5-6 drops. Clean the air filter and re-oil after every session (if you're familiar with MX bikes, just use the same air filter oil you use on them). If you want the truck to look like new, after a good bath, hose it down with WD40 and let it air dry. ( makes it harder to clean after the next session though, but it makes them look good)

I use 6.0V Rx packs and charge before I run the truck. Other than that, I practice this method on all of my trucks and have yet to run into any problems. When I get them out, I usually go thru at least a 1/2 gallon, usually 1 to 1 1/2 Gallon of fuel, so I wouldn't say I baby them. I have 3 trucks (T Maxx, 2 MGT's). On my T Maxx, I take the EZ-Start down and clean the one way bearing every 3-4 gallons.

As far as maintenance goes, thats pretty much it.

You will break parts, thats just part of it, so I don't consider that as maintenance.

I bought my T Maxx used for $225 and it is still a blast to drive. I just rebuilt the motor (stock TRX 2.5) after almost 12 gallons of run time. I keep the temps in the 260-280 range and I run 20% fuel with 18% oil.

Hope that helps.

EDIT-- I also run a fuel filter and replace the fuel line every 2-3 gallons. It's amazing how easily silicone fuel line will spring a pinhole leak and start sucking air. It will make you want to set the truck on fire, shoot it, throw it off of a cliff, etc. Almost every tuning issue I have had was due to air leaks in the fuel line or dirt getting stuck in the needles.
