All I can say is I have had nothing but RF interference problems lately. It sure has not gone away for me.
Most European engines I have seen lately come with a resistor spark plug and have a fully shielded spark plug lead. Thats bound to be better than the typical Asian magneto engine that has only a resistor spark plug.
All the experts advise that you should keep your receiver and its components 12" away from the ignition components so the answer to your last question is no its not advisable. I expect you will probably get away with it though.
