I haven't done any research on this at all yet, this is my first step. RCUniverse has been good to me in the past.

A friend at work is designing a canard aircraft. He has a prototype without an engine. I don't know why he wants to fly it first without the engine but he does. He has asked me to tow him up and release him. I haven't done this before but years ago I custom built an aircraft to "piggyback" gliders up and release them. That was both fun and challenging so I'm looking forward to this.

His aircraft is around seven pounds, a canard, without gear. He has a skid. He is installing a tow release mechanism in the nose.

The aircraft I will use was custom designed for a contest long ago. Wingspan is 60 in., chord is 12 in., Clark Y airfoil, it's a taildragger. It has flown with several engines. It last flew with an OS 40 fp but it was a pig. I plan to use a Rossi .60 blackhead for this.

Do you think this will work? General guidlines for RC towing. Location of release mechanism, examples of the mechanism, towline info, towing technique, perhaps a link.

I'll be happy to post pictures and a description of the event for your amusement.
