I have read about using pearl drops tooth polish to break in gear boxes and burnish the gears a number of times in the rr magazines. A model train builder I have talked to here says he has done it and it does work.I cannot say as I have never tried it.I am happy with letting the gears break in the old fashioned way.Being as it is still talked about in the model rr circles I guess there is a good chance it does work.
