RE: Cox Waco ARF
Not trying to argue the merits of one over the other. I just don't think that the ARF will have near the parts count that the original did. I think that you will agree that this is a factual statement. Very few (if any) ARF's use the same number of ribs or formers that as did the Kits.
Khodges, I was not demeaning your skills. I just don't see anyone being able to turn out these in the numbers that you suggest. I'm sure that you are as skilled as anyone. I'm sure that the whomever is going to build this ARF can build them more quickly than I, since I don't build 8 or 10 hours per day. Building on my time schedule, It does require about 8 months to get one ready to finish. I have built 4 of these now, and you would think that I would know exactly what to do. This is not the case, since each kit of these has it's own set of quirks. One kit will have a landing gear that won't co-operate, and the next one will have perfect gear, and a set of issues with the ribs, and the next may have formers that the cutting die shifted on. They are not perfect, but rather give you a place to start.
I was promised the first kit from Cox, but it looks as though the kit version is not to be. I saw the prototype, and it looks as though it will be a good flying model. I hope they don't stray too far from that prototype when the model is finally released. Good luck to both of you in getting your hands on one of these. You won't be disappointed. Sorry if I came across as being anti ARF.
