Default RE: Four-Star 40

I have flown both 4 star 40 and 60, also PT 60 and soon the PT 40 will be done. They both have similar flight characteristics as they will float in. Now the four stars won't self correct as quickly as a regular trainer would but they are very easy to fly and very fun at the same time. The trainers are simply a trainer and fly like trainers unless you build them yourself and mod a few things along the way. They will do loops and rolls but aren't very good at much more. Here's a link of my 4 star 60's maiden recently and it is an absolute blast to fly, was going to sell it RTF but now I may keep it. [link]http://www.colorado-rc.com/rcu/fourstarmaiden.mpg[/link]

Now you could put nose gear on the 4 star using a motor mount that supports nose gear and move the main gear back some to compinsate, I love building and modding because at times you will be the first to do a certain thing and you never know for sure unless you try it. But i do think you'd like the 4 star as is. My recommendation would be to set it up for first flight with min. throws and the expo. on your radio way down as they are very responsive to input when you first fly them, after a few flights you'll love it.

Now I do like trainers as well, particularly the PT's becuase they are a very strong plane and easy to mod. On the 40 we are finishing now we made the wing flat and changed all the gear, will still float in but won't fly like a trainer, more like a sport plane. Here are a few pics of it.
