If the leader was that good and you are capable of holding a steady line, hold your line, the leader will go around without problems. Most of the time when people slow down or go a different line to get out of the way, the leader has no way of knowing it is coming and a wreck occurs.

Talk to anyone who races a lot and you will get this same line.
