Default RE: racing etiquette?

ORIGINAL: Hincappe

so do you expect his to give way to you so you dont loose too much time to 1st? of course you do.
honestly, no, i expect him to not block me as i come up the inside of him or not push me out into the pipes if i try to get by him on the outside. i honestly would not expect him to hug the out side of the corner so i had the entire track to myself. and i believe the worst thing he could do would be change the line he was driving as i approached eg. go from the inside line and move across to the outside to let me go up the inside. the worst thing i see happen that i see new people do all the time is you follow then on to the straight and just as you go to pull out to pass them they move to let you go by them. so then you go back the other way and they do the same. (i know that most of the time this is accidental and they are just trying to pull over to let you by).

the way i see it if 1st doesn't have to go past 10th and you do that is just the luck of the draw most of the time first gets held up by the slower cars that don't give you racing room while second just follows first through after the other car is pressured into a mistake.

though i have never raced national or world title i would expect as the stakes went up that it would be less likley that people would just pull over and let you by know matter where you are running.

i also don't think that rubbing is racing and i would never deliberatley bump a slower or faster car just to make going by easier. though i have seen this happen and had it done to me.
