I have one homemaid by a friend. It has a LED and a receiver mounted in the intact duct and stripes painted on the 'spinner'.

This fires an external LED (higher powered) which you aim your standard tach at.

I plan to interface this with an LCD display (on board) so I have a permanent tacho in the jet for my BVM fan.
