We had a chute on a B-58 , For safety we hooked the chute to a servo that was "y" off the throttle so it would hold at 1/4 throttle or less . If it happen to deploy in flight you could give it throttle and it would release. It work very well on landing and on taxing you could bump the throttle and release the chute.
