I agree with YNOT. Sounds like your problem is not related to thrust, but probably something that is related to too much elevator throw. Or having the CG a tad to aft which is making your elevator really sensitive. The farther back the CG is the less throw you need on elevator. Thrust has a larger impact on the uplines. If when you pull to vertical and the plane tends to veer Left or Right thats when you put more or less thrust.
