RE: Hobbico SuperStar Select MkII RTF good for beginner?
My son and I trained on this plane. We did learn to fly.
However, the airplane is a bit underpowered if you are flying off of a grass field that is not perfectly manicured. We found that long runs were sometimes required to get to airspeed. For a beginner, steering on the ground for a long distance can be a challenge. If you go with this plane, be sure to minimize the throw on the nose wheel as it has a tendency to over control on the ground. Also, be sure that the nose wheel and rudder are both straight ahead with the left stick at neutral. The longer the takeoff run the greater the challenge to control.
