You willl see each and every scratch. If you are one of those people that buy a clear body, scuff it up, and call it painted, be my guest. But you will see the scratches. My Proline CP had some bubble in the lexan, and despite being painted, I can clearly see the bubbles. I call the same for the scratching. You will have like a foggy look, almost.

Bubbles on the polycarbonate sheet is another case.

Sometimes there might be deep scratches from hobby knifes inside the body, may be a wrong pattern in the beginning etc.. These won't even show when using solid, non metallic colors.
I use Tamiya paint and other brands could different. I tried sanding before and don't for now as it is not necessary. Paint holds on really tight.
