I had a hard landing once and the fuel flow got stuck somehow preventing more than 1/3 throttle without killing the engine.
I thought that the engine was damaged, but then discovered a problem in my fuel tank!

The tube inside the tank had a very small hole on it and it wasn't picking up the fuel properly... Could be something similar in your case. Don't overlook it
