Default RE: U Can Do 3D

You've got it dialed in,nice hoovering! I did another tail touch Friday evening with my Do but on Sunday the engine flamed out just after going vertical in a wall, was up about 4-5ft.. I did something I've never done before,I just let it fall since I figured it was done anyway. It did a stall turn(sort of) on its own and went straight down in. Lucky the ground was soft from rain,no damage to engine, firewall, mounts or anything except a cracked cowl, tail wheel tore out and fuel tank former broke loose. I cleaned out the hunk of turf from the cowl, flushed out the carb and started it with a new prop, still runs good! Guess I better lean it or something,it sounded a little rich on transition. Just another minor mishap to me,worse has happened, 3-D down low is definately higher risk. The lower I get does seem to minimize the damage when things go bad,I use that thought to help "allow" myself to hover below the 3ft. level, I figure if you can hover well at 10 ft,you might as well try for lower, it will have less impact if it goes in.
