RE: Kelly's Brio build and pictures
Canopy.
For some reason the dowels that hold one side of the canopy in
place had been cut off flush. I decided to install new dowels
facing forward instead of the back. This way if the screw comes
out the canopy will just fly off without possibly popping up,
catching a bunch of air and doing more damage.
I used small fiberglass dowels instead of wood and reinforced the
dowel pin holes with 2 layers of ply.
I also added a couple of ply disks at the mid point of the canopy
to help with the alignment.
At the back I used a single 4/40" socket cap screw that is
recessed into the canopy to hold it down. A steel washer is
built into the recessed hole.
