RE: 3BLADE prop on a DA50???
Gadi,
I got your pm but decided to reply ot most of it here, hope you don't mind. Congratulations on your flying events there at home.
Like you I went through quite a few propellers in the landing phase with the Pitts. Once the gear with the longer legs were installed I only broke one more prop over the next several months. As far as inexpensive props are concerned, Taurus Engines has the lowest prices on Xoar propellers. Although the price is relatively low the props should not be considered "cheap" Basically the same as NX and the Wild Hare prop and may actually perform a little better than a Menz.
I can't help you on the 3 blade prop question since I don't use them. I'm certain that someone else will provide what you need in this, tho. BTW, the G/P Pitts is a plane that is better at wheel landings that 3 pointers, but it's still a handful. That's why the longer gear were designed. Made life a lot easier and cheaper on the propeller bills.
The fast landings you are experiencing are fairly normal for a Pitts but could be faster than they need to be due to an excessively forward c/g. I had mine set at a location just forward of the aft upper cabane and it helped slow things down a little. You have a DA 50 on yours. I had a Brison 3.2 on mine so it had a touch more weight up front that had to be allowed for.
For the skidding issue you described, look for wings that may not be straight on the plane before anything else. Do the wingtip to tail and nose measurements to assure that all is correct. That Pitts should be flying pretty straight if all else is. Check that both wings are level on the fuselage. If the "gap" between the wings is not equal at both sides there will be a directional issue. You may have to adjust the engine thrust angle a little if everything else is straight.
