a basketball court should be pleanty of room for those little racers that Plantraco sells, or just about any of the other kits that BSD sells. all of the kits they sell go together just fine i'd imagine, even for a beginer. if you go with the plantraco racers, then the plantraco radio equipment would probably be the way to go, but any of the RXs BSD sells should work with them.

i've read that the racers handle very nicely, and i can only imagine the other kits BSD sells will fly as nicely. the racers are probably a bit quicker than the other kits they have, but i can say that the Quick Junior, HomeBoy and the similar type of planes are good trainers.
