I would like to know your opinion of the dowel rod connecting the 2 elevator halves, and do you have plans to replace it.

I am starting to look at how the plane is assembled and I see no problems with the dowel setup that they are using. It should work well. The slot in the elevators to receive the dowel is precision cut and a tight fit. There are slots cut in the dowel so that the CA hinges pass though the dowel to aid in alignment. The elevators are preslotted and the test fit looks to be perfect. The only issue I see with the dowel is taking the time to carefully apply the epoxy and using the minimu amount to keep the weight down in the tail.
