You can use rechargables you just have to cut or grind back a lot of plastic tabs in the compartments...
One has to wonder if they didn't get some sort of kickback from a battery manufacturer for designing such an obvious flaw.
Judging from your video the sound is much improved over the other vstank models. Sounds like a loud clanky wwII tank.
