Default Editing and Table of contents

Moderators;
I posted a question I had here before and got great help. But here is a question I ask that would benefit us as a group of readers that I would hope the moderators would consider.

Some of the threads become so long and often filled with chit-chat within a marvelous thread that it becomes cumbersome to read thru in one, or multiple sittings. I personally can attest to hours of searching and reading to find a couple of needed jewels.

Would you please consider granting limited editing privileges to some of the trusted posting patriarchs here that have contributed classics, that they could put in a type of Table of contents at the begining of their post, and compress or weed out the extra 'nothing' posts?

Some post threads are reaching 50, 60 and more pages in length, but have great content. I included a quote of a poster below that says it well and I agree whole-heartedly with, and wanted to bring this to the table for consideration.

( In a nutshell: there are some of us (I suspect that I am not the only one) who are interested in your retracts, but are finding it far too difficult to wade thru all these posts to locate the info we are looking for.

It's a real shame, that RCU does not allow us to edit and/ or delete our own, older posts. If they did, it would make it easier to shorten such threads so that only the more useful info remained, AND a table of contents could be added (and updated) at the beginning post.
Just wishful thinking.)
