Default Matrix fuel lines

I'm new to nitro, and I just got a CEN Matrix, and noticed that the fuel lines are really long, long enough to encircle the engine, and lay on the pipe. Is there a certain length that they need to be, or can they be shortened or maybe just rerouted? It seems that they would have to withstand some pretty hot temps, burned my index finger today during 4th breakin tank, OUCH ^$#%#![:'(] aNYWAY THE CAR SEEMED TO BE RUNNING GREAT THIS AFTERNOON, BUT WHEN i TRIED TO START IT THIS EVE. (oops sorry bout caps) I had a really hard time. It would run, then die, then it wouldn't start at all, then it would then die etc. Really frustrating, My friend also purchased a CEN product, and had simmilar probs, he has the GST.
We're going to the track tommorrow, maybe someone there can help us, till then any info would be greatly appreciated.

Anything worth doing is worth doing my way, ehem!
