The switch comes with the unit. The mini 6 would not work without the switch. It is some sort of electronic switch and once switched on, I beleive that you can unplug the switch and the unit will remain switched on. The batteries come with balancing sockets and they also supply a balancer to match the batteries (recommended buy).
