I am also having a problem with not being able to exit from the flying screen. No keys seem to work (including esc). On those rare instances that I do get back to the menu if I try to change planes, etc it just crashes with the Windows "Program Crashed would you like to report it to microsoft" error.

I tried diffferent video driver versions and it changed the behavior (but the problem exists through all versions) so Im guessing its realted to that. I am on an SLI equiped pc with the most recent (and other less recent for testing) Nvida drivers.
I suspect this is a video driver problem. I notice that you're using an SLI-equipped PC. From my experience, I have seen a number of problems with drivers involving SLI over the past year, impacting a range of applications. I suppose the complexity of common drivers that also support SLI is quite a challenge for NVIDIA. In any case, this is may indeed be the cause of the inability to exit and well as some other users that have experienced uncommanded shutdowns to the desktop.

You mention that Esc doesn't work. What happens? Does it never exit and just keeps flying or do you go to the desktop?

I have personally see seen situations where going back to an older driver works well. I have also received reports from users experiencing the same thing -- better performance or more stable performance with older drivers.

It's really amazing to see the difference that drivers can have. I've seen good drivers that were literally 10x faster than other drivers, and some drivers that make otherwise stable applications appear flaky.

So, I recommend trying some older drivers. If you find a driver that works well, please post the info so others with NVIDIA SLI configurations can benefit.
