Ahh, here we go... Found my "Dirt Rider" September 1998. There is an article by Gordon Jennings that shoots holes in many of the popular beliefs that people seem to cling to. I'm too lazy to re-type the entire article, so I did a search and found this:

I remember reading that article, many, many years ago.

While I hate removing oil from my model, I tend to stick with conservative mix ratios. This is a change from my previously favorite 100:1 position. I don't like the gumminess of the low mix ratio synthetic oils these days. But it is all based upon whim. However, I've never heard of too much oil ruining an engine.
