Odd sort of interference
I'm not sure this belongs on the scale forum but...
I've finished the installation of a pair of mechanical retracts in a Kyosho Me-109 ARF. Everything seems to work fine. But. I noticed an odd bit of interference where I get some momentary activation of the retract servo when I push the elevator stick to either end of its throw and then pull back a bit. I can do this consistently. It only seems to activate the retract servo for a split second and there doesn't seem to be any stick position that causes the gear to come down. Note, I only get this stuttered activation with the gear in the up position.
My best guess is that this is coupled with my complete lack of understanding of how the radio setup for retract servos is supposed to work. They do not respond like other servos I'm familiar with. Currently, I have the radio set up so that the EPA value in the up position in 0 and in the down position it's 100. From what I can tell 100 isn't a critical value. If the down positon is set to 0 the servo doesn't do anything. Then as I move away from 0 I get stuttered action until I hit a critical point at about +17 when the stuttering stops and the gear comes down. I just moved it up to 100 to see if that might eliminate the elevator interference. It doesn't.
Does anyone have a clue as to what's going on here? I sure don't. (Dang, WWII stuff!)
Radio: Airtronics VG6000, retract servo is Hitec (as are other servos on this model).
