I also am running the older version JR DS281 servos and they have been great. The 285's should be even better. You have selected some fine components, the Futaba 401 and 9650 servo are the best choice, they simply work great together. I agree on generally good experience with JR.

I can also say that all my Hitec gear has let me down so I am done buying anything from Hitec.
