I flew a CL Super Racer without mufflers for a while. It started and ran well, but was not quite as powerful as my well run in MK II Racer on the same airplane. Might have improved with more running, however.

Incidentally, I think you box art is actually an MK IV. The MK IV had a larger front bearing than the Super Racer (which your engine is.)
