Sig has some interesting planes listed under the Herr name. Go to their web site
http://sigmfg.com and click on Aircraft-> Aircraft - R/C Kits and then pick trainers.
ERRRRR yes the subject is .... trainer, but he already has two planes so I thought that he might be ..... I digress, my bad, I guess the little Gee Bee bipe is something I have been thinking about for myself and when I saw the wing span requirements he had it immediately came to mind.
If he really is still in the trainer mode then it is probably not a good choice.
But just think, he would get to build a kit and have a cool looking plane and get to keep his servos and engine from one of the other planes oops there I go again digressing
