I have one of these from Raidentech. and as stated earlier the directions leave a lot to be desired. However, the quality is very very good.. I am planning on a 90 degree mounted O.S. 46 LA with a slimline Pitts and a 11X6 prop. Since I am planning on taking off of grass from time to time I have removed the wheel pants and added a little bigger wheel. Hope to have a pic soon it is white and purple. Can't wait!!!!! [8D]
The Ultimate 40S is a great flying airplane.
While not a 3D craft it holds it's own with stunts.
The .46 LA will work but it will be somewhat anemic with this engine (I've tried). The .46 LA is about the equivalent of a .32 FX type engine, which you are putting into a plane that calls for at least a .40.
That said the 40S was originally a .30 plane, which was lengthened, etc. to turn it into a .40.
The .46LA should pull it w/o problems but it will not yank the plane straight up as a .46 AX/FX will with the same prop.
Given that the Nitromodels/Raidentech plane is actually lighter than the WM equivalent, this may work in your favor.
You may want to also try a 12x5 prop. On my .46 TH equipped 40S, the 11x6 makes this a VERY fast airplane, almost too fast for a biplane. Several people have suggested that I lower the pitch to bring it's speed down a bit.
