The Formosa seems to be a very good little model...mine flies true as can be....
It has absolutely NO problems doing KE flight..it will sail off into the sunset so to speak , on either wing tip with only a small amount of " top rudder" It loops straight ( doesn't roll out) and inverted is very good. it is a hand launch/belly lander though as the landing gear is less than adequate. Mine is powered with approx 150 watts...11X7.5 prop and 3S lithiums...either 1320 mah or 2100 mah.
Two very important things with this model....build it straight....keep it light...a 16 ounce Formosa flies so much better than a 19 ounce one, that you won't believe it till you actually try it. Mine's covered with solite.and weighs 15 1/2 oz.... it's plenty strong, and will fly in relative wind that will ground most of my other models. I used only one servo for the ailerons, and manually put in some differential....it needs very little elevator movement...about 1/2 suggested or less....balanced just aft of the suggested C.G.....make sure it's laterally balanced too....mine needed a little weight taken off one wing. Seal the aileron hinge gaps with solite....( makes a big difference)
I installed the tail servos at the back of the fuselage, and used very short linkages to the tail surfaces. It still was easy to balance. Overall, a great little plane...it flies like a small Venus 2.....Yes I would have another if this one met it's demise.....also be sure to fabricate some sort of a lock mechanism for the canopy....it WILL come off in KE flight
if you don't...I just glued a small piece of balsa onto it so that it sticks down into the cavity below it to stop sideways movement.....Haven't had a problem since.
build it carefully, set it up correctly, you will like it...If you don't take the time to build it right, and set it up properly,it won't be very good.
