The tx does have a USB lead on the end of it, it will work with Windows XP- I have run mine for about a year on it and its fine, and when I bought it second hand off someone, they didn't unregister it but I found I didn't really need to collect the upgrades and there where becoming fewer and fewer due to the releases of other sims,
