My dropdown for Save has no jpg option, only bmps

Gimp is way over my 67 yr old head

My scanner software looks like space shuttle trajectories in Sanskrit

I had finepixviewer on a previous computer, but after installing in this one,
I cant get the feature which shows all my desktop photos together--thats
where I saved them to desktop and they became jpg's
