Don't worry about hinges. They are 10 times stronger than needed...

As for top hinging, I've been told by a top IMAC flier that center hinges is better for axial rolls and top hinging induces unnecessary differential coupling. Now don't ask me why.

Center hinging is much easier to do anyway.
Makes sense to me because the hinge is pivoting from the center of the TE. If its pivoting from the top of the TE the deflection angle would be different when moving up than down.

With that said probably for 90% of us it wouldnt be that big a deal. I would guess once you move up into the 10% tier of pilots those things become more important.

I think top hinging looks better because you can do it with one sheet of monokote for the entire top of the wing. Center hinging is easier. Just drop the robart drill jig, make you holes, insert glue and hinge points and its done. An easy way to get perfect hinges.
