Sound like the whole "skier" vs "snowboard" thing The oldtimers just don't like the new kids. (seems weird to say that at my age) The cool thing about heli's is you don't NEED the field. But it would be fun to go, if you can find one that is heli friendly and have real people to interact w/.

The best part of any hobby and this online stuff is meeting new folks. One of my other interest is high end audio. I belong to a forum for that, and have met a number of people in the region and several have become really good friends.

Hopefully your local group will embrace the heli thing.

So does AMA insurance only kick in, if homeowners won't pay? Even if that's the case, for the relatively low premium, I would think it would be a good backstop. Of course, I'm not much of a business analyst. Maybe not worth it?
