I don't know about the AMA... If you go to the planes section here and look under AMA, that entire forum is full of hysteria and paranoia. I suppose it doesn't really represent the AMA, but if you look at a membership application / look at the on-line stuff with AMA, there are all kinds of clauses. The main one for me, is that the "flying site" must be an "approved" flying site.

I'd reccomend you get the AMA Membership. It is probably good piece of mind, unless you're out in the middle of nowhere. I'd check into it though, if you're park flying, they might stick you with "you should have been flying at the local club field' thing, but there and again, that might be my paranoia. There's also some "new huge deductable" of which I've never fully checked out. I suppose I should.

I think my club will accept heli flying for what it is. It's not like it's anymore dangerous than flying airplanes. And it's not like I want to go careening around with my Rex recklessly at the field after dropping a good $800 on it either. It'll all work out.
