Your LHS sounds like where I bought mine. I had to Politely Pressure mine to exchange my Tx. after three months. see link:

I suggest you try some friendly persuasion on them, and if that doesn't work, get in touch with Horizon asap. Horizon is really good about handling problems. You don't want to be eating the cost of a 3n1 on a new heli. I agree with the post above, starting off in idle up should NOT have harmed your 3n1.

BTW, I TOTALLY agrree about the plastic blades, boom destroyers. I just got some wood ones from HeliDirect for $7 and change, and $8 for the other, both fly fine. The $8 look just like e-flite blades.
