Another cheap clutch mod is to cut two windings off your clutch spring and use the loop that is left on one side and loop it through the last two windings on the side that you cut, thus making the spring 4 windings shorter, and much stiffer, and will prevent that early clutch engagement, and doesn't cost anything.
