Default RE: What engine for TF Cessna 182 , 81" Kit

BBOwen,

As much as I like Hanger 9 products.........I'd have to say you'd be disappointed if you strayed from the TF C182. I have one in construction and it is just a wonderful building experience and it will look a lot more scale than the H9 ARF. What is the matter with a smaller engine? When I purchased the TF C182, I called them (Top Flite) and asked a lot of questions about which engine to use because I was going to buy the OS 61FS with in cowl header and muffler and was worried about under powering it. They said that during test flights they flew one fully loaded even with nav lights and added two pounds and the 61 had more than ample power to fly the plane with some power in reserve. Remember, this is a scale aircraft and as such is not designed to do sport or 3D maneuvers. I fly (rather flew) full scale C172's and take off was such that you did not point the nose straight up and take off. It was more of a 15 degree angle to the runway as long as you could maintain 75 mph during climbout.

Unless you do not enjoy building, I would definitely really recommend this kit if you really want a scale C182. Also, buy the interior kit and the Robart nose wheel for this plane and you'll really have something.

BAX.........why did they stop making the spinner for this plane? >

Cheers,
Andy
